Mowing the lawn.

Filed under: Uncategorized — landconservancy @ 10:46 am

Spring and early summer are busy times for lawn mowers. Did you know if you mow less often and set your mower to cut off only 1/3 of the height of the grass, your grass will be healthier and need less water? Cutting the grass less often and not so short allows the grass to establish a better root system making it more hardy through the dry months. Having a sharp blade, so the grass is cut rather than torn, also helps keep the plants healthy. Finally remember to use the mulch setting on your mower which will leave the clippings in the grass, helping maintain moisture and returning nutrients to the soil…and it’s easier!

Happy mowing!
