Cold but sunny!

New Years Nature WalkSaturday morning I had the pleasure of walking in the woods with 8 hardy souls willing to brave the windchill. Whether in the name of New Year’s resolutions to get fit or out in nature, or in the interest of simply getting out of the house on a crisp blue-sky day, we were all bundled up & ready for the trail at Legacy Land Conservancy’s Beckwith Conservancy Nature Preserve. We walked underneath the silent snowy conifers & along the stream, peering at hundreds (or thousands!) of turkey prints. And were those pine-marten tracks we saw? After crossing the bridge for a loop under the oaks, we headed back to the trailhead, startling a herd of deer. As the perfect end to a cold hike, Cindy had brought some piping hot cider, and Patti had made muffins – yum! I’m ready to start the new year!
